Lessons from The Lion King

As a child, my absolute favorite movie was The Lion King. So is it any wonder that whenever anything important happens, my fall-back source of advice and inspiration is that movie? (Hint: the answer is no.)

I'm starting the big hunt for cheap long underwear which is exceedingly difficult. Smartwool is like $70 a pop and I'd like to not spend a crazy amount of money but be sure that I'm not going to be a human popsicle. Although I'm pretty good at winning the internet, I still needed a little guidance and training in finding out the best types to buy and the best prices. Thank goodness for Mufasa.

I'm Simba, Zazu is the interwebs, and I am clearly going to win at this. Watch out internet sales, I'm going to be all over you.

  1. get some but dont go overboard. You arrive in the summer, and Mongolian LOVE long underwear and buy it was cheaper than 70 a set. Two of the real heavy duty set stuff is my advice.

  2. Eddie Bauer is having a sale on their long underwear... I just bought some and I'm hoping it will be good for Botswana. Hope this helps! http://www.eddiebauer.com/FIRST-ASCENT/First-Ascent-Womens/First-Ascent-Womens-Baselayer/index.cat Good luck!

  3. @Josh - going overboard = lots of money. I'm just on the hunt for a sale on good quality wool to start me off. And I refuse to pay $70, hence my pouncing :)

@Tracy - you were like Santa for like 5 minutes, but the merino isn't on sale which is my "prey". Thanks a bunch for the heads up though

  4. Ouch. Sorry to get your hopes up! Have you tried any of the Peace Corps discount sites? The PC Wiki page lists a bunch of sites that offer some really awesome PC discounts- sometimes 40 or 50%. I've applied for all of the discounts and been approved, so I've been shopping around and found some pretty great deals. I'd definitely recommend checking it out: http://www.peacecorpswiki.org/Volunteer_discounts
