1. Snapshots project - I went through and followed everyone in the project, hope none of you find that weird. The way I see it, we're going to be spending mad money shipping a little book around the world, so we might as well know a little about each other's service, right? (also exciting: the journal leaves in a couple days!)
2. I added an email subscription box over there on the right so you can now get an email every time I update. More relevant for when I actually leave, but just throwing it out there for anyone interested.

3. Pro deal acceptances are starting to come in! Impressive because I only applied last night, so props to speedy customer service.I've been getting a feel for everything out there so I'm excited to start actually buying things. Downside: commence bleeding money :(
I applied for my discounts last night and already got Eagle Creek, Back Country, Coleman (kind of), Merrell, and North Face! Since learning that I'm going to a cold climate, I cringed at the money I'd have to spend on real deal winter supplies so these discounts are GREAT!!!
ReplyDeleteI got Merrell and North Face and Mountain Hardware (sort of) today! Paying full price for all of the stuff we have to buy sounds like the worst idea ever, so yeah, pretty much in love with the discounts :) Also applied to Smartwool today as (I think)a little bit of wishful thinking. But nobody put yes or no on the wiki, so if it comes through I'm going to die of happiness.
ReplyDeleteAshley, I did the same thing! I got an e-mail from them and they don't do a discount for PC unless it is ordered as a group totaling $300 or more wholesale. I was bummed.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is the saddest news ever :( I figured it wasn't going to happen since nobody had put it up on the wiki, but it would have made my search so much easier. EVERYWHERE (with a decent discount) is out of midweight in medium :(
ReplyDeleteAshley! Here is a site for way cheaper Smartwool socks. I just ordered 5 pairs for $63 (including shipping!) http://www.sierratradingpost.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?allwords=smartwool&searchdescriptions=True
ReplyDeleteI know! Isn't it wonderful? :) I ordered some from them a few weeks ago and they're the most wonderful things ever. Once next semester's loan comes through, I'm going to go back and buy a bunch more. If only they sold baselayers, my life would be set.
ReplyDeleteHi! Also doing snapshots of service, and i followed you back so it's obviously not creepy. :D Question: how did you add the "get email updates" box to your blog? I fiddled around on here for a good half hour and couldn't figure it out. Technology is not my strong suit...
ReplyDeleteP.S. You are so lucky to have so much time to prepare for service...I only got my acceptance seven weeks before departure! But hey, I'm managing :-)
Blogger doesn't actually give you the option straight up so I had to go hunting for it a little. This link gives you directions on how to add the box: http://www.cooltricksntips.com/2009/01/add-feedburner-email-subscription-box.html
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about that the other day - I couldn't imagine getting everything I need in just two months. But on the other hand, I have to agonize for four more months because I want to go and get started.
