so much panic already

Thanks to everyone for their input on the last post. I found a number on the Toolkit which directed me to an email address. I was actually really impressed because they responded after about 10 minutes. So yeah, they answered my question about the forms with the answer I'd been expecting, but didn't say anything about the nurse change. That's fine, as long as I get medically cleared, I'm not too concerned about who's clearing me. Thursday I get to get stabbed three times, then fax the results off to OMS and everything will be wonderful.

In other news, checking my email is one of the most stressful experiences ever because April dates are starting to be posted. I know, I know, I'm not nominated for April but for June. BUT! Last year Georgia went in April rather than in June as in previous years. And I'd love for Georgia to be an option for me. Then again, Kazakhstan has been invited for March when it's left in August for the past forever. So my guessing games have pretty much become useless. I may even get a clearer idea sooner than expected because according to the Future Peace Corps Volunteers FB group, someone just posted her invitation for June 2011. Sooo me next please!

I've completed my training for an ESL tutoring program here in Delaware and it's really intimidating - hence panic. They've done a lot to reduce my panic, but there's a lot of stress included with being responsible to the state and federal governments for a student's progress. They gave me a LOT of material (see below)to help me not feel nearly so lost so in theory I should be okay. We'll see how that goes after I teach a few classes. But it's definitely helped me realize why they insist on more relevant experience because the experience I had before this definitely wouldn't have helped me prepare for service.

One thing that I just discovered today through extensive creeping of that FB group is the "My piece of the Peace Corps" campaign where people whose lives have been touched by either serving or by a volunteer create short videos. They make me feel a little better about why I decided to apply and what I hope to achieve. Everyone should check them out too :)

  2. Oh I figure it'll be Mongolia, which is really not a problem. The more I look into it, the more interesting it sounds. I'm just a nerd and have a thing for former Soviet republics lol
