Application Submitted!

Today, at 6:55pm Denmark time, I pressed "submit" on my Peace Corps application. At 6:56, I had a heart attack. Not really, but it was still terrifying. I had been waiting on Laura to finish editing my essays all week and after getting them back, all I wanted to do was submit. After all the resume-editing, bugging my parents for really weird information, and staring at the screen trying to figure out what to write for the essays, I finished. The only thing I couldn't figure out was whether to use my address here in Denmark or home as my current address. I don't really want them to send things here, but I don't want them to try to get a hold of me at home or on my cell. After the initial submission of the application, I then had to fill out a "health status review" form which consisted of about 100 questions about my health. Some diseases I had never heard of and 95 "no" clicks later, I was done. I did click yes on the "Other than for arthritis or bursitis, have you been medically treated more than twice for: Chronic shoulder pain, dislocation or rotator cuff injury" one because I figured a year of physical therapy and orthopædic visits counted. I tried to ask my parents what they thought, but it is ridiculously difficult to find someone when you're across an ocean and have no way to call. In any case, I'll probably just have a form to to give to a doctor to fill out saying I'm fine now. No big deal.

Now I begin the process of waiting. Two of my three reference providers still need to submit their recommendations. In about a week, something will arrive at home telling me how to get on to the next PC website and with forms for me to fill out. Then a recruiter will get in touch with me (somehow...) and an interview will be scheduled. Then hopefully, the rest of the process will begin!

If you're wondering what the rest of the process looks like (hopefully!), check out these links. The first is from the Peace Corps website and the second from the PeaceCorpsWiki, a website put together by FPCVs, PCVs, and RPCVs as a general reference for everyone.
