excited for paperwork?

This past week gave me what I expect is a preview for the next year or so. A week ago I got my nomination and I've been waiting every day to hear something more. People online said they got a letter making their nomination official, but I haven't gotten one. Maybe it comes with the medical packet? I don't know because I haven't gotten it yet either. It makes me so anxious. It's probably not nearly as stressful as the actual medical process is going to be (and everything after that), but waking up every morning to an empty inbox and coming home to no mail just makes me sad. But at the same time, it makes me anxious for the next day to come so I can stalk the mailbox again.

Today I woke up late so I didn't have time to check my email before going to Rec, but when I finally got around to it during the day, I got the Toolkit update. I figured it was the anticipated check mark letting me know that the medical kit is FINALLY in the mail. I mean seriously, how long does it take to put some forms in an envelope and put it in the mail? Alas, they're in the mail now and that's all that matters. Because really, how excited is anyone for the prospect of extensive paperwork? But, the excitement is there because it was mailed yesterday which means it should get to me sometime this week. Woo!

One thing I have to figure out though is how to be able to use the VA hospital in Canandaigua for the medical exam. I could go to my normal doctor, but from what I've read about the medical process, it involves a lot of testing and I certainly don't have the money for it. The Nominee Toolkit says something about needing a letter from the government saying it's okay for me to use the VA hospital for the exam and tests and that the PC will be billed directly, which is way more preferable to me paying out of pocket then maybe not getting fully reimbursed. And although I can't say I'm particularly excited to be poked and prodded, I am excited to have the papers in hand and begin everything. And be one step closer to Asia of course :)
